Vojska volontera

A ako nam pomognete s promocijom eventa, možda vam ih i pokažemo prije =)

Summary in English:

Less than 2 and a half days after registrations are opened we have 10 registered attendees, and they are ALL volunteers, wow! =) Of course we’re not gonna stop here, it’s just a start! If only each one of those 10 would bring 10 more…
We also talked to some girls that had nothing against idea of being hostesses for preDevCamp Zagreb. If you help us spread the word, maybe we show them to you before the actual event =)
The only problem still remaining is the date, we think everything else will settle once that’s known.

P.S. title = “Army of volunteers”

Reci ptičica

Since preDevCamp Zagreb is in, well, Zagreb, Croatia, we’ll be writing this blog in our native language, Croatian. But we don’t want our fellow preDevCampers in other cities to lose track of what’s happening here, so we’ll be including post summaries in English. And ofcourse, updating our Twitter feeds in English too (@palmprebase, @beler, @blackshtef, @fichek). You will be able to find these summaries at the end of each post, starting… NOW!

preDevCamp Zagreb s ponosom predstavlja našeg službenog fotografa @mactomm-a.

Busiest city: Zagreb | Busiest Organizer: fichek

Summary in English:

preDevCamp Zagreb proudly presents our official photographer, @mactomm. You can see some of his photos in this Flickr gallery. We’re also happy to see this text under the header which says… Just look at the quote above =) Next week we’re having a little meeting to discuss some important stuff regarding this event and distribute tasks among us, so stay tuned.

“Reci ptičica” has the same meaning as “Say cheese”, but if you want exact translation, it’s “Say birdie” =)

Pozdrav iz Zagreba

Hello World, and welcome to the official blog of preDevCamp Zagreb 2009 which will take place in same time as in other 60+ cities around the world, exactly one week after U.S. release of the Palm Pre smartphone (which might be as early as next month?). Registrations are already opened so if you are afraid there will be no space for you, hurry up to the registration page!

preDevCamp Zagreb will be organized by @blackshtef, @beler and me, @fichek (guys behind Palm Pre Base), so if you are interested, feel free to follow us on Twitter and this blog. We probably* have the venue already, and we’re hoping to have at least half of attendees of recent BarCamp Zagreb!

* Since we don’t have a fixed date, we can’t reserve the venue we want yet, but we hope they will save some space for us.

P.S. Title translates to “Greetings from Zagreb”

preDevCamp Is Go!

I just released a post on whurley.com entitled “Phone Warz: Revenge Of The Palm?” discussing how ever since I helped pull together iPhoneDevCamp with Raven Zachary and Chris Messina back in 06, Ive been hawking the other manufacturers looking for a legit challenge to the iPhones throne; secretly to have another event.

Anyway, I was discussing this whole scenario with @Giovanni and @DanCrumb this weekend, and we had quite an amusing round of what-ifs. We had so much fun bumpin our gums, we decided to up the ante. Today @Giovanni, @DanCrumb and I (@whurley) are launching preDevCamp 2009.

The event will be held in around 60 cities around the world exactly one week after the U.S. release of the Palm Pre. Since the phone is Linux+WebKit, development should be easy for us to share the love. Tell your friends. Invite your neighbors. Weve got satellite events lined up in over 30 cities around the world. If you want to enlist, visit the website and tell us your city. If theres not a leader in that city, then you just got promoted.
